Day 9: Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and Park - Hiroshima Castle - Kamiyacho Department Stores
Day 9: Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and Park - Hiroshima Castle - Kamiyacho Department Stores

Today we headed back to the Peace Memorial Museum to finish what we had started yesterday. After completing the museum, you can't help but spend a few moments just reflecting about humanity and the effects of war. It was a bittersweet feeling as we made our way through the park to visit the various memorials.

The park felt so peaceful compared to the graphic images we saw just moments ago in the museum. There were the sounds of kids laughters in the background and the bantering of family and friends gathered under the cherry blossoms. It made you feel quietly honoured to be there to see how far Hiroshima had come in 65 years.

After visiting most of the memorials, we headed off to Hiroshima Castle where we spotted another wedding on the grounds. It was starting to feel like the season of weddings in Hiroshima.

Our last stop for the day was Kamiyacho - department store central of Hiroshima. Here we saw three department stores lined in a row, all at least 7 storeys high...and to think we had seen it all when it came to department stores. We call it quits quite early for the day as we rested up for the last leg of our trip - Osaka.
